This past year at YemiPoet has been a journey of creativity, evolution, verses and
shared voices. What began as a vision to provide a platform for expression has
now blossomed into a year filled with contests, challenges and meaningful
connections.
In just twelve months, we have:
Organised 12 contests and a few special-day poetry contests across different themes,
including guidance, emotional control, authority, personal growth, health,
identity, society and change, faith, seasons, gratitude, and creativity at its core.
Reached over 2000 participants, including teens, youths, and adults.
Provided a platform for voices to address issues of resilience, social change, identity
and hope.
Created a Facebook community of over 487 writers and poets. It’s a space where they
share their work, encourage one another, hold mini-contests, learn, and grow
together.
More than the monthly prize award, what stands out is the courage of participants towrite, speak, and let their words bring about change, healing, and light. Ourcontests have shown that poetry is not just about having 3 winners at the endof each contest, but about transformation. Poets are finding confidence, gaining recognition, building community, and shaping voices for the future.
As we reflect on all that has been achieved in one year, we also look ahead. The next chapter promises more contests, more opportunities, and more stories waiting to be told. We remain committed to making poetry not just a competition to be won, but a force for empowerment, recognition, creativity and change.
